Some days, it can be difficult to get going and to stay motivated. We all have days where we would much rather stay in bed than having to take on life’s endeavors. Fortunately for us, there are still ways to motivate yourself to get going even on those days. Here are just a few things that I have been doing in order to stay motivated and to keep a positive mindset:
1. Wake up with a goal.
Wake up with a purpose for the day. Knowing that there is a goal to accomplish or a task that needs to be done doesn’t only make you feel important, but it makes you feel good as well. It makes you feel important because someone out there is relying on you to get the job done. If you are not there, the task will not be completed. It makes you feel good because it can be one less thing to have on your to do list. Maybe it’s just me, but I feel a huge sense of relief when checking things off of my seemingly never ending list of things to do. The larger amount of tasks that get accomplished, the closer you are to accomplishing your goal!
2. Avoid checking your phone when you first wake up.
This is such a helpful tip! As much as I would love to wake up and just lay in bed for 30 minutes texting or checking social media, I don’t allow myself to do so. Why? Because it can be unhealthy. I never end up “just checking my text messages.” For me, just checking a text message leads to checking Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, Facebook and any other form of social media that will allow me to stay in bed a little longer. I find that checking my phone in the morning can also set a negative tone for the day. For example, if I’m scrolling through Facebook in the morning and see a post that aggravates me, it puts me in a less positive mood. A key to staying motivated is to wake up with a positive attitude about the day!
3. Challenge yourself.
The best kind of competition is the one that you have with yourself. Challenge yourself to be better than the person you were yesterday. Making small changes day by day can lead to huge results! Challenge yourself to make a healthier choice when choosing a meal, to go to the gym instead of watching tv, or to look over your notes rather than spending time complaining that you don’t know the information. All of these things can help you to have a more positive mindset and can motivate you to stay on track.
4. Go for a walk.
Going for a walk can allow you to have some alone time to think about your thoughts, your future, and your goals. I never thought that I would be the type to enjoy running, walking, or even the outdoors in general. But honestly, walking for at least 10 minutes a day can be relaxing. It helps to calm me down and it allows my never ending thoughts to wander freely. It kind of makes me feel like I have my life together🤗
